How Do You Get Our Services ?
The Area Board receives literally
hundreds of calls each month from families, school districts and other
community agencies. We respond to request as close to an order of call
bases as possible.
If
you are seeking Advocacy assistance please call our office at (916) 324.7426
and your call will be responded to in a timely manner or E-Mail our Executive
Director at: michaelr@areaboard3.org.
When
our staff returns your call have the following information available: (1)
know your school district, (2) be prepared to discuss the specific issue
or issues you are requesting support to resolve, (3) have the name of a
district or regional center contact person you have been talking with and
(4) be prepared to talk about how you would like the issue resolved. You

Your
call is very important to us and we apologize in advance if there is an
undue delay in responding.
What Does The Area Board Charge
For Its Services ?
The Area Board is a Federally funded
agency and currently there are no charges for the direct advocacy services
provided by the agency. Although, it should be noted that events which
the Area Board is a co-sponsor may have charges based upon the decision
of the event manager.
What Services Does The Area Board
Provide ?
The Area Board is a Federally funded
State mandated agency who's overall responsibility includes monitoring, planning and the provision of advocacy services
Specifically,
Area Board III provides direct advocacy supports to families and consumers
through a myriad of services including:

Training, like the Supported Life
Conference

One to one Advocacy in the area
of Special Education and Regional Center - family and consumer supports

Planning and Resource Development
-
Public Information
-
Independent Citizen Organizations
-
Monitoring
-
The Area Board in collaboration
with community groups throughout the ten county catchment area also provides
specific training in Special Education Rights and Responsibilities.
